Stay Open Venice Beach

Stay Open is easily one of the best places I’ve ever stayed. Waking up and seeing the beach right out the window was unreal—it’s the kind of location you dream about. Being steps from the sand and so close to Venice and Santa Monica made it perfect for exploring or just soaking in the beach vibes. The hostel itself was awesome. The rooftop was such a cool spot to hang out, especially with those ocean views. The pods were surprisingly spacious and super comfortable, and the bathrooms were spotless (which, let’s be real, is rare for shared spaces). The kitchen was great too—plenty of room for food and super easy to cook meals. The staff, though, were the real standout. They were so friendly, welcoming, and genuinely helpful in every way. Whether it was answering questions, keeping the place spotless, or just making sure everything ran smoothly, they made the whole experience feel effortless. You can tell they care about making everyone’s stay as great as possible. If you want somewhere clean, comfortable, and right on the beach, this is the spot. I’m already looking forward to coming back!

I could not ask for a better place to stay in LA. It's right on the beach, the staff are incredibly helpful, there is a coworking space, amazing people to chat with in the evenings, delicious coffee, bikes, towels- everything. I haven't stayed in a more friendly, convenient and top-notch location place! I recommend 10/10. The pods make sure you can really get your sleep while enjoying the benefit of being around other travelers.

I have stayed here multiple times! This place is one of a kind. Not only because of the location and how well it’s operated but because of the family vibe it has. Especially, David an Aussie who is so warm and welcoming. He always goes out of his way to make my stay so comfortable and easy. Would recommend to this place to anybody who is in the area!!

I stayed here for 1 week and plan to return at my next opportunity. The house is immaculate, quiet and peaceful. I would highly recommend staying here. The house managers were friendly and professional and make the house welcoming and safe for all. If you are looking for a calm, quiet, safe and luxurious place to stay then this is definitely the place to go. They have 2 longboards and 2 bikes available to use and an amazing bike pathway right out front.

stayed at this hostel in Venice Beach and honestly had a great experience. As a solo female traveler visiting for the first time, I felt completely safe, even though I’d initially been nervous after hearing there were a lot of homeless people in the area—they really kept to themselves. The location is perfect, with everything within walking distance. The sleeping pods were incredibly comfortable, and I slept so well. The people I met were so friendly and welcoming. I truly had a blast, and I’m leaving with a bit of nostalgia for the amazing memories made here. I would definitely stay again.

I loved it so much I actually questioned whether I should write a review so the secret doesn't get out! Stay Open is amazing. The space is EXACTLY what is shown in the photos. The quiet and calm is real. The other guests are considerate and the house rules are actually abided. I was so shocked that this place is everything it advertises, and more. The pods are so comfortable--excellent night's sleep. The kitchen has everything you need for cooking (you bring the food), and David had coffee going at 6:30. Plenty of space to store your things and locking mechanisms to keep it locked up if you want. The first night it became clear that wasn't necessary because of mutual respect by everyone in the house. Spotlessly clean. Lots of places to work and lounge. The place is so professionally run, but chill. Breakfast in the morning on the roof deck and working and then watching the sun set over the Santa Monica Mountains and Pacific was incredible. The location is smack in the center of Venice Beach. Found pretty easy street parking, too but abundant garages if you are wary of street parking. Lawrence and David take great care of the place and guests, were always available to ask advice about groceries, getting around, etc., and some of the regulars had great advice too. The communication about arrival and getting here was prompt and thorough. I so appreciated David's flexibility as my arrival plans shifted a few times, and that he went out of his way to make sure he was here to greet me and give me a tour. I cannot love this place enough. Thank you so much for the incredible hospitality!

Going on my second night here... The host are cool and they keep things organized and in order. The quiet space rules are respected by all. Excellent place to vaction/work when need be. Guest are from all over the globe doing great thing. Great experience. UPDATE: stayed 7days total, a very peaceful. Will def book again when on a solo trip.

Stayed here for a few nights and loved it!!! The building is open and airy with 4 floors total (including a rooftop with great view of Venice beach). The interior design is also super cute. Clean, quiet, comfortable and literally right on the beach which makes it a good deal for the nightly rates. Within walking distance to lots of fun restaurants, cafes, shops, etc. and the historic canal district. Staff was also friendly and helpful. Can’t say enough good things!!
